The word Monotheism can be split into two parts: mono - "one" or "only" and theism "belief in a god or deity". The word designates a system of belief which professes the existence of only one God. Religions such as Islam, Christianity, and Judiasm are monotheistic. Mormonism in contrast is polytheistic.
